Our Story
Tim Main, owner of NC River Riders, comes to Elkins from Harpers Ferry, WV. While living in West Virginia Tim worked all aspects of the outdoor adventure industry and has over 20 years of experience guiding on the Shenandoah and Gauley Rivers. He has trained hundreds of river guides, provided river rescue training to local fire departments, facilitated adventure based team building, and managed operations of busy outfitters. You can find Tim featured in travel segments on ABC, NBC, FOX television affiliates, and the Travel Channel. Tim hosted a historical river tour for the National Geographic Channel.
By providing tubing trips on the Yadkin, Main hopes to help people connect and appreciate nature and each other. Main also hopes to educate his guests about the local environment and how to preserve one of the best natural feature of their home.
Tim plans to expand operations to include stand up paddle boards, canoes, and kayaks. Stay tuned!
